What's New in iOS 18 Beta 7

We’re nearing the final stages of the iOS 18 Beta as Apple prepares for its official release next month. This means that iOS 18 Beta 7, released today, is becoming more stable with fewer changes being added beyond bug fixes.

In case you missed it, here are the features included in iOS 18 Beta 6 →

The Final Beta

According to Mark Gurman, iOS 18 Beta 7 will be the final beta until the iPhone 16 launches. So, I don’t expect any new features to be added, and Apple will focus on developing new features for iOS 18.1 Beta.

So far, I haven’t noticed any changes in iOS 18 Beta 7 compared to Beta 6, even after trying to compare them. If you spot any changes, please share in the comments below.

I predict that iOS 18 RC might be released soon if Apple decides to hold the iPhone 16 event earlier, possibly on September 3-4. Alternatively, we might see iOS 18 Beta 8 next week if Apple holds the event on September 10 (which many rumors suggest). But I wouldn’t expect any new features to be added.

Recent Calls

In iOS 18 Beta 5 and earlier, Apple added a call button in the recent calls list within the Phone app. This meant that tapping a contact in the list wouldn’t immediately place a call but would instead show you the contact’s information. You’d only make a call by tapping the call button next to the contact.

However, in iOS 18 Beta 6 and Beta 7, Apple reverted this change to work like it did in iOS 17 and earlier. Now, tapping a contact in the recent calls list instantly starts a call. I think Apple will keep this change in the official release.

Personally, I’m used to this behavior from iOS 17 and earlier, so it doesn’t bother me. But some users think Apple should have kept the design from iOS 18 Beta 5 and earlier to reduce accidental calls.

Control Center Bug Fix

Many reports suggest that iOS 18 Beta 7 has fixed issues where certain controls in the Control Center would either disappear or duplicate themselves after a reboot.

The Control Center also feels smoother and less laggy now when swiping through the pages.

I didn’t add screen mirroring to the control center, but there’s a bug that automatically adds when I reboot from 18.1 beta 2. Beta 3 is still there.

I had the same experience after updating to iOS 18.1 Beta 3, but then I removed Screen Mirroring from Control Center about two times, and now it’s gone completely.
