Apple has released iOS 26.6 beta for developers. The first beta arrived earlier than expected, as x.6 beta releases usually roll out around mid June. Let’s take a look at what’s new across these updates.
iOS 26.6 RC

Apple says in the iOS 26.6 release notes that it “optimizes the Spotlight index in preparation for iOS 27.” This could mean a much faster indexing process after upgrading from iOS 26.6 to iOS 27.
Since iOS 27 indexes your iPhone’s data to power features like Siri AI, this optimization should let you start using Siri AI sooner with less waiting. Back in iOS 27 Beta 1, some users reported waiting up to a week for indexing to complete.
iOS 26.6 Developer Beta 5

X user @limpless_skelly discovered new code in iOS 26.6 Beta 5 suggesting Apple is working on alerts that warn users when a message may be attempting to harm their iPhone or compromise their privacy.
The alert prompts users to help prevent future attacks by sharing the message with Apple, offering Not Now, Share with Apple, and Don’t Report as options.
Keep in mind that the image above is a mockup based on code found in iOS 26.6 Beta 5. The alert itself hasn’t appeared yet, and it’s still unclear what types of messages would trigger it.
Also, Beta 5’s build number now ends in “a”, suggesting iOS 26.6 RC could arrive as early as next week.
A public release is expected by the end of July.

iOS 26.6 beta 3 doesn’t bring any notable changes, aside from a slightly smaller installation size than before. X.6 beta updates usually come in around the same size, so this likely points to some code cleanup.

Updated for beta 2: iOS 26.6 beta 2 is now available, and just like beta 1, there’s nothing significant to report.
For something more exciting to experience, you may want to look into the iOS 27 beta instead.

iOS 26.6 beta doesn’t seem to include any notable new changes, as Apple is likely saving most of its focus for iOS 27 beta, expected to be announced on June 8.
MacRumors found code in iOS 26.6 beta showing that users will receive an alert when the blocked contacts limit has been reached (20.000 contacts), suggesting they remove blocked contacts in Settings before adding new ones.

You’ve reached the maximum number of blocked contacts. To block additional callers, remove a blocked contact in Settings.
