iOS 18.2 will be the next major update after iOS 18.1, adding the missing Apple Intelligence features like Genmoji, Image Playground, ChatGPT, and more, along with various other enhancements. So, when can we expect the release of iOS 18.2?
When will iOS 18.2 be released?
Apple has confirmed that iOS 18.2 will be coming in December, although they haven’t provided a specific date. Recently, Mark Gurman suggested that Apple might release iOS 18.2 earlier than usual, likely in the first week of December.
Here are the previous .2 releases from past years for reference:
- iOS 17.2: Monday, December 11, 2023
- iOS 16.2: Tuesday, December 13, 2022
- iOS 15.2: Monday, December 13, 2021
According to MacRumors, iOS 18.2 is expected to be released on December 9. This aligns with the announcement from UK carrier EE, which said it would discontinue the ‘Wi-Fi Calling on supported iCloud-connected devices’ feature on the same day — a feature that has already been removed in the current iOS 18.2 Beta.
December 9 also fits Apple’s usual release schedule for .2 updates in recent years and is slightly earlier than Mark Gurman predicted, though not in the first week of December as he suggested.
While this information might not be entirely accurate, combining it with Mark Gurman’s insights gives us a likely release window of December 2–9. I’ll continue to share updates as more information comes out. Once Apple releases the iOS 18.2 RC (the final beta before the public release), the exact release date should become clearer.
What’s New in iOS 18.2?
iOS 18.2 includes various features and changes, including a new Mail interface, Volume Limit, the ability to import or export data from Safari, show volume control on the media player on the lock screen, and many other updates that you can explore through the links below.
The Apple Intelligence features added in iOS 18.2 include ChatGPT integration, Genmoji, Image Playground, Visual Intelligence (iPhone 16 Series), and more.
What’s Next?
After iOS 18.2 is released, Apple will continue rolling out iOS 18.3 Beta for developers. I don’t expect iOS 18.3 to introduce many new features, as Apple typically doesn’t do that with their .3 updates.
Here are the previous .3 releases from past years for reference:
- iOS 17.3 Beta 1: Tuesday, December 12, 2023 (one day after the release of iOS 17.2)
- iOS 16.3 Beta 1: Wednesday, December 14, 2022 (one day after the release of iOS 16.2)
- iOS 15.3 Beta 1: Friday, December 17, 2021 (four day after the release of iOS 15.2)
If iOS 18.2 is released in the first week of December, we can expect iOS 18.3 Beta 1 to follow shortly after.
As always, I’ll be sharing updates about any new features in iOS 18.3 Beta here on the forum and on X, just like I’ve done for previous betas. So be sure to keep an eye on the forum and follow @BetaProfiles on X for the latest updates!
