Hi, my current tvOS OTA Blocker profile expired, so I tried to install the new version, but the DNS version has several issues for me.
Most importantly it doesn’t work with a VPN, since that overrides the DNS server settings. It also no longer shows the current version as the latest (only shows the failed update check), which means the update notification never goes away.
Is it possible to get the previous tvOS version, but with a new certificate, so it can be installed? (I checked waybackmachine, but all of those tvOS versions have expired certificates)
Apple no longer releases beta profiles, so installing them has become more difficult. I’ve updated a guide on how to still install the tvOS 26 beta profile by setting your device’s date to before May 1, 2026, but I can’t guarantee it will work reliably.
Also, the DNS profile method doesn’t work with VPNs. We’re currently trying to find the most optimal solutions possible.
Yeah, the tvOS 26 beta profile only removes the ‘Update Available’ notification in Settings, and it’ll disappear once you set the date back to automatic. Blocking OTA updates still depends on the DNS profile for now.
