Block OTA Profile stopped working

Hello, today I got the notification for an iOS/iPadOS update on both my iPhone 14 and iPad A16. After checking, it doesn’t seem like the OTA profile was installed anymore for some reason, so I went back to the site to download and install it but even after a device restart the update wouldn’t disappear.

Did someone experience this too and is there a way to fix it?

If you see “Unable to Check for Update,” that’s actually a good sign, it means the profile is working. It just doesn’t remove the “Update Available” banner or the red badge in Settings.

You can set your device’s date to before May 1, 2026 to install the tvOS 26 beta (Old Block OTA profile), but I can’t guarantee it’ll be stable.

It’s the same for me. Reinstalled the profile but the update is still there. I reloaded and rechecked. Any way to fix this? I’m very worried it will push the update through now.

Which profile did you install? The new DNS-based one or the old tvOS 26 beta profile?

I’ve tried setting the date to before May 1, 2026, then installing the tvOS 26 beta profile, and it’s still working so far. Just make sure you don’t restart your device after installing the profile successfully.

You should also check Settings → General → iPhone/iPad Storage and remove any downloaded update files (if there are any).

I had the tvOS 26 Beta one installed.

Now after reinstalling it from the website and restarting my device it works again (says “Unable to search for Updates”)

I can’t find the tvOS 26 beta profile. Am I overlooking something? I changed the date, reinstalled, update is still there. Turned off my VPN, the update is still there. There’s no update in my storage.

Is there another profile to install or only the DNS blocker one?

You can find the tvOS 26 beta profile and the full instructions here: Download OTA Update Blocker profile for iPhone and iPad - Beta Profiles

If the update is still showing up, feel free to share a few screenshots confirming that you’ve successfully installed one of the Block OTA profiles.

It’s not persistent on my end and the update pops up after few hours of use.

I recommend installing the latest DNS-based Block OTA profile, and make sure not to use a VPN or any other DNS proxy, as they may override the Block OTA profile and cause OTA updates to appear again.

Good news! The tvOS 26 beta profile is back, so you no longer need to use the DNS method.
