Today, Apple released iOS 18 Beta 4 for developers. This update brings few changes but focuses on the smoothness of iOS 18 since the first beta launch in June. Below is everything new I have found in Beta 4 so far.
In case you missed it, here are the features included in iOS 18 Beta 3 [Updated] →
Still No Apple Intelligence
Although Apple Intelligence is expected to be released alongside iOS 18 this fall as a beta, Apple has not added any Apple Intelligence-related features in iOS 18 Beta 4 for testing.
It seems that Apple is still actively testing Apple Intelligence internally and has not yet met the expectations to release a beta version for developers and beta users. So, let’s continue to wait and see.
New icons in Control Center
iOS 18 Beta 4 updates the Alarm and Stopwatch icons in Control Center, now featuring a transparent layered design that matches the overall design style of iOS 18.
However, Apple still has many icons to update in Control Center.

iCloud in Settings
iOS 18 Beta 4 adds an iCloud menu in Settings, which was previously accessible only through the Apple Account.
Photos
In the Photos app, there’s now a new prompt introducing the ability to swipe left or right to view your collections and favorite photos.
Stocks App Icon
The Stocks app icon has also been updated in iOS 18 Beta 4.
Smoother transitions
iOS 18 Beta 4 features smoother transitions, making actions on the iPhone feel much more fluid compared to earlier betas.
Hidden Apps Folder
The hidden app folder in the App Library has been updated to display placeholders instead of just dimming app icons like in Beta 3.
Thanks to @EnidSpartanOSC for pointing this out.
Vehicle Motion Cues Settings
The Vehicle Motion Cues setting is now updated with options for On, Automatic, or Off, whereas Beta 3 only had an On/Off toggle.
Additionally, long-pressing the Vehicle Motion Cues control in Control Center now shows “Automatic in Vehicle” instead of “Only in Vehicle,” making it much clearer.
New CarPlay Wallpapers
iOS 18 Beta 4 also adds 4 new wallpapers, similar to the default iOS 18 wallpapers with light and dark modes.
RCS Messaging Support Expanded
Some users in Canada have reported that carriers like Rogers and Fido now support RCS messaging after updating to iOS 18 Beta 4.
Additionally, there are other carriers in different countries that also support RCS messaging:
- Orange - UK
- Three (Hutchison 3G) - UK
- EE (formerly T-Mobile) - UK
- Orange - Spain
- Vodafone - Spain
- Yoigo - Spain
Expanded Flashlight UI for iPhone 15
iOS 18 Beta 4 brings the new Flashlight UI to iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. Previously, this was only available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro.

iPhone Mirroring Icon
The iPhone Mirroring icon on the Lock Screen has been updated when the iPhone is being mirrored on a Mac.
Camera Settings
In Settings - Camera - Preserve Settings, there’s a new option called Controls Menu, which Apple says will “Preserve the previously used camera tool when expanding the controls menu, rather than showing the list of camera tools.”
Personal Hotspot Menu
The Personal Hotspot menu has returned to the main settings page. In previous iOS 18 beta, you had to access it through the Cellular menu in Settings.
Calendar
The Calendar app has added an option to hide completed reminders.
