What's New in iOS 18.4 Beta 2

Apple has released iOS 18.4 Beta 2 for developers today. This update is expected to be officially released in April, so there’s still room for improvement. Below are all the changes and features in iOS 18.4 Beta 2 compared to Beta 1.

In case you missed Beta 1, check out the post: What’s New in iOS 18.4 Beta 1?

New Emojis

iOS 18.4 Beta 2 adds seven new emojis, including:
🫩 Face with bags under eyes
🫟 Splatter
🫆 Fingerprint
🪾 Leafless tree
🪏 Shovel
🫜 Root vegetable
🪉 Harp

Visual Intelligence for iPhone 15 Pro

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users can now use Visual Intelligence through the Action Button and a toggle in Control Center, just like the latest iPhone 16e.

For the iPhone 16 series, a similar option has also been added for the Action Button and Control Center.

Control Center

There’s a new Talk to Siri shortcut in Control Center for quickly activating Siri by voice.

Apple Vision Pro App

After updating to iOS 18.4 Beta 2, Apple Vision Pro users will see the “Apple Vision Pro” app. This app serves as a hub for discovering popular apps and games, browsing a catalog of over 300 3D movies, exploring Apple Immersive videos, accessing Vision Pro video content in the Apple TV app, and viewing spatial photos, videos, and panoramas in the new Spatial Gallery.

With the My Vision Pro tab, users can get tips to make the most of Vision Pro and set up features like vision calibration and Personalized Spatial Audio.

Anyone can download the Apple Vision Pro app from the App Store (your App Store account must be set to a country where Vision Pro is available, such as the US, Canada, France, the UK, Germany, etc.), but the My Vision Pro tab only appears for those who actually have an Apple Vision Pro connected.

App Store

iOS 18.4 Beta 2 adds a pause and resume button when downloading or updating apps from the App Store.

There is a new Review Summary section in Ratings & Reviews that compiles user summaries into a short snippet, helping you quickly grasp what users think about the app.

Here is Apple’s description of Review Summary in the App Store:

An app may have a summary that highlights the most common customer feedback and sentiment in user reviews about the app.
The summaries are refreshed as new reviews are added. Summaries are available in select countries and regions and for apps. with enough reviews to provide a summary.

They appear on the app’s product page. If the summary is inaccurate or has another issue, you can report a problem.

It seems that this feature is currently only available on the U.S. App Store, with more regions and languages (possibly) expanding later.

It’s unclear whether this is an Apple Intelligence feature. If you have more information, feel free to share it below.

Prioritize Notifications Update

Prioritize Notifications is an Apple Intelligence feature introduced in iOS 18.4 Beta 1 that highlights important notifications in the Notification Center. In iOS 18.4 Beta 2, Apple has added the option to manually disable prioritized notifications for individual apps.

You can find this setting in Settings → Notifications → Prioritize Notifications.

Photos

In the Recently Deleted folder in Photos, there is now a Recover All button and a button to permanently delete all photos in the folder. In iOS 18.3 and earlier, you had to tap the Select button in the top right corner, then tap the three-dot menu to access similar options.

In the Media Types and Utilities sections, there’s a new Edit button that lets you reorder these folders.

On iPadOS 18.4, you can also do this by pressing and holding a folder, then dragging it to where you want.

Wallet

In iOS 18.4 Beta 2, the Wallet app has replaced the Orders button with a new three-dot menu, which includes three options:

  • Orders
  • Subscriptions & Payment
  • Settings

Shortcuts

The Shortcuts app has been updated with many new actions that allow you to modify various settings for different Apple apps.

For example, the Change Safari Settings action includes multiple adjustable options such as Open Links, Close Tab, Safari Suggestions, Tab Layout, and more.

TV App

The featured movie or TV show section in the TV app has been slightly refined in iOS 18.4 Beta 2, removing the description and replacing it with a More Info or Play button. The Add to Library button has also been moved next to it instead of being placed in the top right corner.

Mail

In Settings → Notifications → Mail → Customize Notifications, there’s a new Badge Count option that lets you display either the number of unread emails in the Primary folder or the total number of unread emails.

Additionally, a Primary Inbox setting allows you to enable alerts and sounds.

This setting was added in iOS 18.4 Beta 1, but I didn’t mention it in my previous post, so I’m sharing it here now.

RCS Messaging Expands

iOS 18.4 beta 2 expands RCS support to more carriers, including T-Mobile MVNOs like Mint Mobile, Google Fi, Ultra Mobile, Tello, and US Mobile. In France, Orange and Sosh now also support RCS. This rollout suggests broader global expansion.

RCS enhances messaging between iPhone and Android with higher-quality media, read receipts, typing indicators, and Wi-Fi messaging.

Hi sodabuns, we are in beta versions and that does not mean that when the RC version is released, that option will be available again, as has happened in previous IO´s. Greetings!! :sunglasses:
