What’s New in iOS 18.4 Beta 4

Updated on March 17, 2024

Back Tap Banner Removed

iOS 18.4 Beta 4 has removed the Back Tap Banner, the indicator at the top of the screen that appeared when the Back Tap feature was activated, first added in iOS 18.4 Beta 1.

Safari Recent Searches Toggle

A new option has been added to disable Recent Searches in Settings → Apps → Safari. This feature was introduced in Beta 1, but an option to turn it on or off was only added in Beta 3.

What’s New in iOS 18.4 Beta 3

Wallet

The Wallet app has updated the “Subscriptions & Payments” menu to “Preauthorized Payments” in Beta 3.

Back Tap Setting

iOS 18.4 Beta 3 introduces a new “Show Banner” toggle in Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap, which is enabled by default. This allows users to hide the Back Tap indicator when activated.

The indicator was first added in iOS 18.4 Beta 1, but there was no way to disable it until now.

Additionally, I haven’t noticed any significant changes after a few hours of using this update. If you find anything new, feel free to share it below!

But today, we also have an exciting update on iOS 19 from Mark Gurman

He says this will be the biggest design overhaul ever— the most significant UI update since iOS 7. While it will incorporate some elements from visionOS, it won’t fully adopt its design. Apple hopes the refreshed interface will reignite interest in its latest devices and divert attention from the delayed rollout of Apple Intelligence.
