iOS 26 Make my iPhone work like a brick

After updating my iPhone from iOS 18.5 to iOS 26, it completely stopped working properly. The Wi-Fi turns off automatically whenever the screen goes dark, the system is lagging terribly, and the worst part is the battery — it won’t charge at all. It stays stuck at 1%, and after a short while, the phone just resets itself (probably because the battery is actually empty), but it never charges beyond that 1%.

Has anyone else experienced something like this after updating to iOS 26? If so, how did you fix it? I’d really appreciate any help or advice.
Im Using iPhone 11 Promax

Beta 1 versions are usually quite laggy, especially on devices with older hardware like the iPhone 11 Pro Max. That’s completely normal, and Apple will gradually improve performance in later beta releases.

I usually restart my iPhone if it’s not behaving as expected. However, if you feel it’s affecting your daily usage, I recommend downgrading to iOS 18.5 or waiting for more stable iOS 26 beta updates.

You can find the guide for downgrading without data loss here:

This update bricked my phone, it won’t charge, and its so dead it won’t recognize when I plug it into a computer to try a downgrade.
Been charging for a couple of hours now and nothing. It does recognize its plugged in, and the time shows correct on the screen.

Is there a way to downgrade the iPhone without turning it on? cause 1% doesnt last long and it keeps shutting down the phone in a short while after I turn it on.

I’ve seen that many users with iPhone 11 series devices using a replaced battery are getting stuck at 1%.

A workaround is to put the iPhone into recovery mode and restore it, or plug it into a charger while it’s in recovery mode.

This appears to be a bug, so it’s a good idea to report it to Apple via the Feedback app to help speed up a fix.

Did you manage to do this? I’m having the same issue.

Seen a couple people with iphone 11 Pro or Pro Max hitting the same 1% bug on this beta, so you’re not alone. It looks like a mix of the battery replacement issue + ios 26 beta not talking to the battery properly. Only workaround I’ve heard actually working is putting the phone into recovery mode while plugged in and then downgrading to 18.5. Pain in the ass, but seems like the only way until Apple pushes a fix.

Curious tho..did anyone here try recovery mode restore “without” having a backup? Wondering if that wipes everything right away or if there’s still a way to pull data off first with a tool before the restore
