Apple has confirmed that WWDC24 will take place on June 10. As usual, major updates like iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11,… will be released on the same day.
iOS 18 is expected to be the largest update ever for the iPhone with significant additions in AI, home screen customization, UI updates, and countless other new features that we have yet to see.
iOS 18 Expected Release Date
iOS 18 Developer Beta
The first iOS 18 Developer Beta will be released right after the end of Apple’s keynote on June 10th, which usually runs for around 2 hours. Apple hasn’t announced a time for the Special Event yet but they typically take place at 10 am PDT in the past, so we can expect the iOS 18 Developer Beta to be released on June 10th at 12 pm PDT.
This is a past release schedule:
- iOS 17 Developer Beta 1: June 5, 2023
- iOS 16 Developer Beta 1: June 6, 2022
- iOS 15 Developer Beta 1: June 7, 2021
iOS 18 Public Beta
Public Beta 1 will be released approximately 4 to 5 weeks after Developer Beta 1, so we can expect iOS 18 Public Beta 1 to be released around late June to early July.
This is a past release schedule:
- iOS 17 Public Beta 1: July 12, 2023 (37 days from when Developer Beta 1 is released)
- iOS 16 Public Beta 1: July 11, 2022 (35 days from when Developer Beta 1 is released)
- iOS 15 Public Beta 1: June 30, 2021 (23 days from when Developer Beta 1 is released)
Based on this schedule, I estimate that iOS 18 Public Beta 1 could be released between July 9th and 12th, 2024.
iOS 18 Official Release
iOS 18 will be officially released in September, about a week after the iPhone 16 is unveiled. So it will be around September 16th to 23rd.

- iOS 16: September 16, 2022 (after September 7 event)
- iOS 15: September 20, 2021 (after September 14 event)

Following the official iOS 18 release, Apple will continue rolling out iOS 18.1 Developer Beta in September. Based on past release patterns, we can expect the first iOS 18.1 Developer Beta to arrive around mid to late September.
