While Apple Intelligence is a key feature of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, it has not yet been made available to beta users. So, when can we expect this feature to be released? Let’s find out.
Coming to iOS 18 Beta This Summer
Although Apple announced that Apple Intelligence would be coming this fall with the iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia updates (possibly in September), it hasn’t been added to any iOS 18 developer beta versions yet.
So, I predict that in the next few weeks, possibly with iOS 18 Developer Beta 3 or the iOS 18 Public Beta (released in July), Apple Intelligence will finally be available to beta users.
When will iOS 18 Public Beta be released?
Still Labeled as Beta Upon Release
Apple Intelligence will still be labeled as a beta feature when it is released with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia in September, indicating that Apple is not yet ready for the official release of Apple Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence Still Unavailable in the EU
According to MacRumors, Apple Intelligence will not be available to users in Europe this year due to regulatory uncertainties brought about by the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
Besides Apple Intelligence, features like iPhone Mirroring and SharePlay Screen Sharing will also be unavailable in iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia when they launch this fall.

It’s still unclear how long it will take for Apple to bring these features to the EU, as they may need to make changes to comply with the DMA.

- iPhone 15 Pro (A17 Pro)
- iPhone 15 Pro Max (A17 Pro)
- iPad Pro (M1 and later)
- iPad Air (M1 and later)
- MacBook Air (M1 and later)
- MacBook Pro (M1 and later)

What does Apple Intelligence do?
When launched, Apple Intelligence will usher in a new era for Siri, including:
- Smarter Siri
- Tools to create expressive icons called Genmoji
- Contextual image creation
- Refining your writing
- Summarizing content and websites
- Trimming unimportant notifications on the Lock Screen
- Searching for photos and videos by describing the content you’re looking for
- Removing unwanted objects while retaining the original image
- Recording calls and creating summaries of recordings
And many more features that you can find on the official Apple Intelligence website.
Some Features Won’t Arrive Until iOS 18.1 or 18.2
According to Mark Gurman, several AI features will be added later in late 2024:
- Redesigned Mail app
- Integration of Siri with ChatGPT
- Swift Assist, a new companion programming app for Xcode using cloud-based AI models
iOS 18.1 or iOS 18.2 is expected to be released around October or December.
Some Features Will be Postponed Until 2025
Some features of Apple Intelligence won’t be ready until 2025, which include:
- Onscreen awareness: Siri can perform actions based on the content displayed on the screen. For example, if a friend sends their new address in Messages, the recipient can say, “Add this address to their contact card.”
- Personal Context: Siri can search through your photos, calendar events, messages, and other apps to provide answers to queries. For instance, asking Siri what movie your friend recommended will prompt it to search relevant messages and emails for movie suggestions.
- Semantic indexing: Apple Intelligence creates an on-device semantic index to store data retrieved from your emails, images, websites you visit, and apps you use.
- App Control: Siri can execute specific actions within apps. For example, moving a note from one folder to another, deleting emails, summarizing articles, sending web links via email, and opening a specific news page in Apple News.
